On Oct 10-11, Almetyevsk State Oil Institute (ASOI) in partnership with Nafta College held the II Student PetroCup intellectual and analytical game Championship (Almetyevsk, Tatarstan).

On the opening day participants were greeted by ASOI's principal Robert Nurgaliev, deputy chief geologist of PJSC TATNEFT Alexander Evdokimov, head of the field development technologies department of PJSC TATNEFT Bulat Ganiev, modeling center head of PJSC TATNEFT, Zoya Loshcheva, deputy head of corporate culture development department Rifdar Hamadyarov.

In his speech, Robert Nurgaliyev noted the importance of the PetroCup game, which has been recognized by Russian and foreign oil engineers as an advanced tool for raising professional skills in developing and managing fields and improving teamwork.

9 teams from leading Russian universities gathered in Almetyevsk to take part and compete for the main cup. Over the course of two days, the participants had to prepare proposals for surveilliance, new drilling and interventions, perforation and production targets management in order to maximize income over a five-year development period on a digital field very similar to the real one. On each step teams' proposals were interactively calculated using the software simulator "PolyPlan" and results returned to teams in online mode for further analysis.
